A Bit Of Our Tree Story

Bill Smallwood

owner & operator

Bill has been serving the triangle area since 1999. He moved with his wife and two children to Clayton in 2009. For the last decade Clayton has been a welcome home to our family as well as our extending family. Before coming to North Carolina, Bill was born and raised in Penobscot County, Maine. Hailing from the back woods, he cut his teeth on logging at a young age with his father. His grandfather worked logging, as well as his younger brother. Even his cousins worked logging. With that history it’s easy to see how it’s in his roots.

Tamara Smallwood

secretary

After marrying Bill in 2000, it’s been a great tree adventure since then. Before coming to North Carolina, Tamara was born and raised in Brownfield, Texas. She worked in Dallas before relocating to Raleigh in 1996 pursuing a career as an advertising art director. Hailing from the great plains, she was raised driving tractors, working in the cotton fields, running cattle, and riding horses. Her grandfathers were cattlemen and farmers and heavy machinery operators; so it goes to reason, she’d be a good fit for this outfit.

Bill responded on the same day that I had left a message to contact, and then was out the next day, on time, to give an estimate. He and his excellent crew took 2 trees out of our fenced in back yard in only about 6 hours, and then cleaned the yard and the street very well. I will contact Black Bear Tree Service for our next tree removal job.
